Lumenorth Wick Nordic Plug-In Wall Lamp

Wick is a Nordic plug-in wall lamp designed around the one quality most wall lights get wrong: the light is uniform and glare-free, so you can sit right beside it without squinting or turning your head away. Everything else about the fitting follows on from that one decision rather than the other way round.

A wall sconce sits at eye level, which makes glare the difference between a fixture you use every evening and one you quietly end up avoiding. The diffusion here spreads the output evenly across the shade rather than throwing a bright point from one spot, and that is what makes it work as a genuine reading light beside a chair or a bed rather than as a decorative glow on the wall. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so there is no wiring, no electrician and nothing left behind on the wall but two small screw holes.

Black keeps the fitting graphic against pale plaster; white lets it disappear into the wall behind it almost entirely. Mount it at seated shoulder height, and run the cord neatly down the wall to the nearest socket rather than trailing it across the floor where it will be caught.
