Lumenorth Olive Wood & Ceramic Wall Light

Olive is a wall lamp in natural wood and hand-finished ceramic: an earthy, grounded shade on a solid timber arm, with a knob switch you turn by hand rather than a plate on the wall. It is a fitting made of materials that were already old-fashioned fifty years ago, which is a large part of why it has not dated at all in the years since.

The olive brown ceramic shade brings a muted, natural tone to a room, and the pleated texture breaks the light into soft vertical bands rather than a flat wash across the wall. Paired with the wooden arm and the classic twist switch, the whole fixture reads as both vintage and current at once, which is the kind of thing that stays on a wall for years rather than being replaced at the next redecoration. Ceramic and timber both take light warmly, so the fitting glows rather than glares even at close range.

The plug-in cord and swing arm make it a genuine reading lamp rather than a decorative one. Mount it beside a bed or an armchair, and use the swing arm to bring the shade out over a book rather than leaving it sitting flat against the wall all evening.
