Lumenorth Lens Clear Glass Wall Sconce

Lens is a modern wall sconce built around a clear glass casing. The glass does the diffusing while the metal body draws the outline, and neither one hides the other or fights it for attention. It is a straightforward division of labour, and it is what keeps the fitting legible from right across a room rather than reading as a vague bright patch somewhere on the wall.

The gold body warms everything it touches and gives the fixture a quiet sense of occasion without becoming ornate about it. Black is sharper and more graphic, and it lets the glass read as the softer of the two elements by contrast. Both are minimalist enough to sit in a modern interior without competing with whatever is already hanging on the walls, which matters in a room where the art is meant to be the thing you look at and the lighting is meant to help.

This is a light for looking at things by, whether that is a book, a mirror or a picture on the wall beside it. It takes an E14 lamp, so the fitting stays compact and the projection from the wall is minimal enough for a narrow hallway or a tight corner.
