Globe is a retro wall lamp built from two elements only: a slim metal rod and a clear glass sphere. The proportion is borrowed from classic banker's lamps, but stripped of everything ornamental that usually comes with that reference. What is left behind is the pure geometry of the thing, which was always the part worth keeping.
The minimalist rod frame holds the globe out from the wall so the light reaches around it in every direction rather than being trapped against the plaster behind. That is an architectural gesture rather than a decorative one, and it is what lets a single small fitting light a surprising amount of a corridor or a stairwell. The clear glass keeps the bulb visible, so a filament LED is worth the small extra cost here, and a cold white bulb would undo the whole effect the moment it was switched on.
It suits bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and staircases equally well, and it looks just as right in a period flat as it does in a new build. It takes an E14 lamp, which keeps the sphere in proportion to the rod and the projection from the wall modest enough for a narrow corridor.
