Fold is a minimalist wall sconce shaped like a single sheet bent back on itself: one continuous surface, one crease, and nothing else at all. The crease is where the light escapes, so the one piece of geometry in the design is also the working part of it. That is an unusually economical way to design a light fitting, and a difficult one.
Most wall sconces are a shade attached to a bracket, and you can always see the join if you look. This one is not built that way: the form is unbroken from top to bottom, which is what makes it read as sculpture rather than as a fitting screwed onto the plaster. Clean lines, no visible fixings, no ornament anywhere, and because there is nothing decorative on it to date, it will look exactly the same in ten years as it does on the day it goes up.
Black gives the crease a sharp shadow line of its own; white lets the whole form dissolve into a pale wall. Mount one in a hallway, a pair flanking a bed, or a run of them climbing a staircase wall where the repeated fold does all of the work by itself.
