Lumenorth Comet Twin Globe Wall Sconce

Comet is a wall sconce built from two globes on a single black arm, one above and one below, with a trail of gold detailing running between them. The name of it describes the gesture rather than the shape itself, and once you have seen it as a comet it is difficult to see it as anything else. That is usually a fairly reliable sign that a design has landed properly.

The upper globe and the white glass shade beneath it do quite different jobs. The lower shade diffuses fully and provides the soft, usable light that the room actually needs, while the upper one reads as a design element and keeps the fixture from looking bottom-heavy against a tall wall. Together they turn a wall light into something closer to a piece of wall decoration that happens to work, which is a harder balance to strike than simply making a fitting decorative and leaving the lighting as an afterthought.

Mount a pair either side of a bed or a mirror, where the symmetry is worth having and the two arms mirror one another. The black and gold combination sits comfortably against pale plaster and against a darker painted wall alike.
