Clay is a retro wall lamp cast in textured resin. The surface is deliberately uneven, so it catches light the way fired earthenware does rather than looking obviously moulded, and at arm's length it passes for something considerably more expensive than it is. The texture is the point. A smooth, evenly finished version of the same shape would be a different object altogether, and a considerably duller one.
The silhouette borrows from mid-century wall lighting, but resin makes it far lighter than the ceramic originals it references. That matters practically rather than just aesthetically: it mounts on a plain plasterboard wall without anchors or reinforcement, and it will not chip if it takes a knock from a passing bag or a chair being pushed back. For a rented flat or a hallway where things get bumped, that is a real advantage over the genuine article.
White keeps it quiet and lets the surface texture do all of the work; light brown warms the whole fitting and reads much closer to unglazed pottery on the wall. It takes a G4 lamp, and each piece is cast to order rather than held in stock, so allow a little extra lead time when planning the installation.
