Cinder is an industrial plug-in wall sconce in matte black: the finish of something that has been through heat, which is exactly the look the style has always been after. The matte surface takes fingerprints and knocks without showing them, which is a good deal more than can be said for most darker finishes on a fitting mounted at hand height in a hallway.
The black finish and unadorned form give it a clear industrial edge, but the proportions are restrained enough that it does not force the rest of the room to follow it into a warehouse aesthetic. It adds vintage character to a living room and a modern edge to a bedroom, which is a considerably harder balance to strike than committing wholly to one or the other.
