Lumenorth Bolt Industrial Wall Sconce

Bolt is an industrial wall sconce with an exposed bulb and a matte black finish: raw, urban, and deliberately unfinished-looking. There is no shade to soften anything and no cover plate hiding the fixings, which is the whole point of the style rather than a shortcut taken during design. The bulb is on show, so the bulb you choose is half the decision.

The plug-in version needs nothing more than a standard wall outlet, with no wiring, no electrician and no waiting for anyone to be available. The hardwired version connects to a wall point instead for a permanent, cord-free installation where you already have a feed in the right place. Both come singly or as two-packs, which is how most people end up using them in practice: a matched pair either side of a bed, flanking a mirror, or spaced along a hallway wall where a single fitting would leave one end dark.

A warm filament bulb suits the fitting; a cold white one fights it. Matte black holds up well against both plain plaster and exposed brick, and it hides the marks and fingerprints that a lighter finish would show within weeks in a busy hallway or an entryway.
