Arc is the design in one word: a single curved arm reaching over a candle, holding a conical shade above it. The lamp melts scented wax from above using nothing but the warmth of the bulb, so fragrance fills a room without a flame in it, and the whole thing reads as a piece of lighting rather than an appliance.

A wick burns a narrow tunnel down the middle of a candle and leaves most of the wax behind on the sides of the jar. Warming from above melts the whole surface evenly instead, releasing scent steadily and using the candle right down to the bottom. There is no soot on the ceiling and nothing to remember to put out before bed. The built-in dimmer takes it from a bright working light down to a low evening glow, which means it earns its place on a side table whether or not there is a candle underneath it.

The shade and the area directly beneath it get warm in use, so give the lamp a stable, heat-tolerant surface with a little clearance around it, and keep it out of reach of children and pets while it is switched on and while it cools down.
