Excellent light, shines really well.

The motion sensor responded well, which was good.

Lumenorth Cedar Rechargeable Wall Sconce lighting a stairway

It Lights The Way Before You Arrive

The sensor picks up movement from around four metres, so the light is already on by the time you reach the top of the stairs or open the cupboard.

No Switch To Find In The Dark

It comes on when you arrive and goes off a short while after you leave, so there is nothing to feel for on the wall and nothing left burning.

A Wooden Sconce With No Wiring

For a wall that has never had a light on it, this is the whole problem solved in an afternoon and without an electrician.

Cedar is a rechargeable wooden wall sconce that needs no wiring at all. It senses you coming, lights the way, and switches itself off again a short while after you have gone. There is no switch to find in the dark and no cable to run. For a wall that has never had a light on it, that is the whole problem solved in an afternoon.

The sensor picks up movement from around four metres, roughly thirteen feet, so the light is already on by the time you reach the top of the stairs or open the cupboard door. That makes it genuinely useful in the places that never got wired properly in the first place: hallways, cabinets, wardrobes, a front porch, and the route to the bathroom at three in the morning when nobody wants a ceiling light. It comes off the wall to charge and goes back on its mount afterwards, so there is no ladder work and no electrician involved at any point.

The wooden face keeps it considerably warmer in character than the usual white plastic sensor light, so it can go somewhere visible rather than being hidden inside a cupboard. Each piece is made to order, so allow a little extra lead time when planning.

Power: rechargeable battery, no wiring required
Sensor: motion activated up to approximately 4 m
Lifts off its mount to charge, then clips back on
Material: wooden face, warmer than a plastic sensor light
Made to order, allow additional lead time
Best for: hallways, stairs, cupboards, wardrobes and porches
