Lumenorth Cedar Rechargeable Wall Sconce

Cedar is a rechargeable wooden wall sconce that needs no wiring at all. It senses you coming, lights the way, and switches itself off again a short while after you have gone. There is no switch to find in the dark and no cable to run. For a wall that has never had a light on it, that is the whole problem solved in an afternoon.

The sensor picks up movement from around four metres, roughly thirteen feet, so the light is already on by the time you reach the top of the stairs or open the cupboard door. That makes it genuinely useful in the places that never got wired properly in the first place: hallways, cabinets, wardrobes, a front porch, and the route to the bathroom at three in the morning when nobody wants a ceiling light. It comes off the wall to charge and goes back on its mount afterwards, so there is no ladder work and no electrician involved at any point.

The wooden face keeps it considerably warmer in character than the usual white plastic sensor light, so it can go somewhere visible rather than being hidden inside a cupboard. Each piece is made to order, so allow a little extra lead time when planning.
