Lumenorth Quill Modern Wall Lamp

Quill is a slim modern wall lamp, a single fine stroke against the wall, which is where the name comes from. It is drawn rather than built, in the sense that the whole fitting reads as one continuous line from the mount outward. Nothing interrupts it. That is unusual in a sconce, where the bracket usually gives the game away.

The form is clean enough to hold its own as an object when the light is off, which matters a great deal for a fixture mounted at eye level and looked at all day. Gold gives it warmth and a slight luxury without tipping into ornament, while black makes it graphic and reduces it almost entirely to a drawn line on the wall. Neither finish shouts, which is exactly why it works in a living room and an office equally well, and why a pair in different rooms of the same house never look like two separate decisions.

It takes an E27 lamp, which gives you the full range of bulbs and the option of a dimmable one. Each piece is made to order rather than held in stock, so allow a little extra lead time when you are planning the installation.
