Lily is a gold wall sconce with white glass shades, the warm metal and the cool opal glass balancing one another out. It is a pairing that has never gone out of fashion, and the reason is straightforward: gold on its own can read as heavy, and white glass on its own can read as clinical. Together neither problem appears. That is most of the design decided already.
The single-shade version is compact enough for a hallway or a position beside a bed, where it lights what is in front of it without lighting the whole room. The two-shade version pushes considerably more light into the space and reads as a more deliberate design object, which makes it the better choice above a sideboard, flanking a fireplace, or anywhere in a living room where the sconce is doing real lighting work rather than just marking the wall. Both use G9 lamps, which keeps the fittings compact and the heat output low behind the glass.
The opal glass diffuses the lamp completely, so there is nothing harsh at eye level. Mount a pair either side of a mirror for even light across a face, which is the one job a ceiling fitting always gets wrong.
