Cupola is a dome light that mounts on a wall or on a ceiling: an aluminium shell over a frosted diffuser, sitting flush enough to read as architecture rather than as a fitting bolted on afterwards. The frosted diffuser means the source is never visible from any angle. What you see is a glowing shape, which is easier to live with than a bright point.
The same unit works as a wall sconce along a corridor or beside a bed, and as a ceiling light on a landing, in a stairwell or in a small room with no space to spare. That flexibility matters most in the awkward spaces, the ones every house has: a stairwell where the wall is the only option because the ceiling is three storeys up, or a low hallway where anything hanging would be caught by the first tall person to walk through it.
Matte black holds a crisp outline against pale plaster; brushed gold warms the surface and picks up whatever light is already in the room. It takes a compact G9 lamp, and each piece is made to order rather than held in stock, so allow a little extra lead time when planning the installation.
