Lumenorth Batten Metal Wall Sconce

Batten is a metal wall sconce shaped like a plain bar fixed to the wall: clean geometry, upward light, and no attempt whatsoever to be anything more than that. It is the least demonstrative fitting in the range, and in the right room that is exactly what is wanted. A light fitting does not have to be interesting in itself in order to be a good one.

Because the light faces up rather than out, you never see the source directly from anywhere in the room. What you get instead is a soft glow spreading across the wall and the ceiling above it, which reads as relaxing rather than functional and stays comfortable to sit beside for hours at a time. That makes it a natural fit in a living room, a bedroom or a home office where the fitting will be within a metre of somebody's head for most of the evening.

Four lengths mean the bar can be scaled to the wall rather than the wall having to accommodate the bar. A short one suits a narrow chimney breast or the wall beside a mirror; the longest reads as an architectural line running across a whole living room wall.
