Lumenorth Flask Glass Wall Lamp

Flask is a glass wall lamp built like a piece of laboratory glassware: a clear vessel held in a metal collar, with nothing hiding the bulb inside it. There is no diffuser and no shade, which makes the bulb itself part of the design rather than something to be concealed. Choose one you are happy to look at, because you will be looking at it.

The pipe is a tall cylinder that draws a vertical line up the wall, and it is the natural choice either side of a bathroom mirror where light needs to fall across a face rather than onto the ceiling. The ball is a round globe that scatters light in every direction and reads considerably softer and more decorative, which suits a hallway or a living room wall where the fitting is doing atmosphere as much as illumination. Both come in warm gold or cool chrome, and both take an E27 lamp.

Gold suits cream walls, timber and older rooms; chrome sits better against tile, glass and modern sanitaryware. Mount a pair at eye height flanking a mirror rather than a single fitting above it, which is the arrangement that actually lights a face without shadows.
