Lumenorth Alabaster Plaster Wall Sconce

A soft up-and-down wash of warm light. Alabaster is a sculptural plaster wall sconce: a small white block with curved cutouts at the top and bottom that throw two soft beams of warm light in opposite directions. Pointed up, it grazes the ceiling above. Pointed down, it pools quietly onto the floor. The wall behind almost disappears, replaced entirely by glow.

This is not a fixture for lighting a room to work in, and it is better for saying so plainly. It is a fitting for the spaces that ask for mood rather than raw output: a long hallway that feels like a corridor rather than part of the house, a stairwell, a bedroom wall, or the end of a living room that sits in shadow all evening. Plaster is the right material for that job because it is matte to the point of absorbing reflections, so the fitting itself never catches the eye, only the light it produces does.

It can be painted to match the wall exactly, which is unusual and worth doing in a hallway. The integrated LED runs warm rather than cool in tone, and there are no bulbs to change at any point over its life.
